[community profile] recourt Local Witches In Your Area Want To Meet You

Hello, witches, wizards, warlocks, mages and other magically-inclined persons of Court!

Nessa here has a theater task she has to do. She got in a fight with a dragon and needs a heal, it's a long story. It's actually not that long, that's basically the whole story. The task that concerns you is she needs to see spells she's never seen before. More to the point, misadventures in Court have made it clear to Nessa she is not where she wants to be in terms of being able to use her magic to defend herself and others, so, she wants to find some people to teach her to be better at Magic Fightin'.

But Nessa doesn't really know how to find the best person for this, so she's just gonna cast a wide net and see what she reels in. She's going to cast a spell that is basically equivalent of setting off 10 notifs at once. The kind that go off even if you have Do Not Disturb on.

A brief summary of the spell:
- Will ping all magic users it reaches.
- Will ping them repeatedly.
- The pings will firmly but politely ask anybody who feels them to come see Nessa wherever she is, because she requires their renowned, world famous arcane talents.
- The pings, if ignored, will increasingly butter up the recipient and heap on more egregious amounts of flattery.
- The pings are not overly loud or painful and will not otherwise cause particular discomfort. They're just repetitive and insistent.
- The pings will stop if you find Nessa or ignore them for about 5-10 minutes.

If you play a magic user and don't want to be pinged by Nessa, Just ignore all of this and assume the ping didn't reach your character. Nessa's not that experienced, it's reasonable to assume her spell just whiffed on a few people.
Otherwise, if you wanna plan something out, feel free to fill out this form! This form is totally optional and is not in any way required to respond to the ping when it happens, if you wanna just play it by ear, feel free! This is just to give me an idea of what kinds of CR people might wanna do with Nessa as a result of this thing.

Character Name: Linnea

Magic: A large suite of basic Final Fantasy magic (cure, life, fire, blizzard, etc). She's at kind of an intermediate level with these in that she can do a wide variety of spells but isn't deeply skilled at any of them. Also, she can create and control rose vines. She has good control over this.

Will They Show Nessa A Spell: Yes absolutely!

Will They Teach Nessa: She can teach any of the FF spells and is happy to share in a "we are both peers studying magic" kind of capacity, rather than a teacher-student one. She's still learning, too. But sometimes it's fun to share notes.

Unfortunately, some of her magic was gifted as a boon from a higher power and isn't something she can teach.

Anything Else: Linnea likely won't answer the pings but she'll make a mental note to talk to Nessa next time she sees her.

Character Name: Esmau

Magic: You could probably answer this better than I could.

Will They Show Nessa A Spell: Something that puts emphasis on demonstrating raw personal power than finesse. To demonstrate that the 'correct' approach to magic is 'magic is power, and should be used as such'. --Something that won't freak her out, though. She did this for Linnea recently.

Will They Teach Nessa: Esmau would do this in a combination of 'olive branch' and to show she's changed. Her teaching style is still authoritative (lectures, teacher demonstrations, structured tests to prove ability, generally critical approach, and discipline-oriented instead of positive reinforcement and praise-oriented), but she's mellowed away from 'corporal punishment' and has more years of experience after the divergent. And, she's the one who uses the type of magic Nessa uses already, so there's synergy there.

Anything Else: If Nessa gets of the mind Esmau can be trusted a smidge (and isn't a Shadow, or whatever) she'll go for it.

Character Name: Ralsei
Magic: Probably a broad range of basic jrpg white mage style spells, but notable ones are:
-pretty strong healing
-pacify (puts tired people to sleep)
-fire magic (used mostly to brighten an existing light but could probably do damage)
-floating off the ground
Will They Show Nessa A Spell: Ralsei will do pretty much anything that is asked of him. He'd be happiest to show off his healing, but will do other magic upon request.
Will They Teach Nessa: He would be more than happy to teach healing or pacify and can do so pretty quickly, but he could be convinced to provide tutoring on more advanced magic stuff in the long term too.
Anything Else: Ralsei is a little fluffball who loves friendship and that's what he's here to provide

Character Name: Emet-Selch
Magic: Oh my god there is so much. General FF-style elemental magic (with a lean towards darkness affinity), at a level appropriate for 'a sorcerer of eld' who is canonically mentioned to be one of the best mages of his era. Plus also creation magic, the ability to transform and a host of "cool antagonist mage" abilities (teleportation and floating most notably).
Will They Show Nessa A Spell: Yes, eventually. He's grumpy and stubborn and the ping will need to wear him down a bit first. His default would be to lean either to elemental magic or minor feats of creation magic!
Will your character show Nessa a spell to help her complete her theater task? What kind of spell do you think would be cool to show her?
Will They Teach Nessa: He would be physically able to! But he'd insist he's not suited to it (this is only partially true) and would not to be convinced into it. Which I am absolutely up for! But ICly he will resist it, at least to start.
Anything Else: He would absolutely be up for just talking magic, and would be actively attempting to lean the CR there - this is, again, entirely an IC thing! He is grumpy and tired, but also very susceptible to repeated asking, especially asking that also butters him up in the process.
