[reverie] Palace Game Interest Check

Hey, what's up internet. Today, I've got an interest check for a Palace Game I'm going to be running in the near-ish future. The palace game is going to be for our little witch, Nessa, so if you think you'd be interested in playing in that game when it comes, keep readin'!

Who:
This game is going to be open to anybody that has CR with Nessa, either currently or in the past before she got all short and teenager-y. If you don't have CR with Nessa but still think you might wanna run this, good news, we have plenty of time to figure something out! Leave a comment here or contact me on Discord or Plurk.

What:
The game is going to be comprised of two parts, an Exploration Game and a Boss Fight. The exploration game is going to be pretty typical heart game stuff, exploring locations and meeting people important to Nessa, viewing memories, collecting items, talking to NPCs, all that stuff. There will also be an element of starting weak, but gaining power and growing stronger throughout the exploration game. This will be in preparation for the boss fight, where, brace yourself, your characters will be fighting a boss. The level of mechanical complexity in this boss fight is still up in the air so if you have an opinion on whether you want Numbers and Mechanics or if Numbers scare you and you just want a simple prose-y boss fight, now would be a good time to let me know.

When it comes to powers, this isn't set in stone, but I'm thinking of going powers off for the exploration game and either slowly gaining them back be part of the exploration game or having them re-enabled for the boss fight. However it happens, it's probably going to be some form of "powers off at the start of the game, they're back by the time the boss fight starts".

Note: If you're not super into exploras, we may be able to figure something else out. See the form at the bottom of the post.

When:
I'm going to be looking to run this game sometime in December. The reason it's kinda far out is because, well, I haven't actually started writing anything down yet (and I'm gonna be working on a different project in November, so I can't run it then). I have a lot of the design and story elements in my head but I haven't actually gotten them down to the page yet. More to the point, I want this game to have a slightly personalized feel to it and be a reflection of Nessa's relationship with her CR, so I want to have an idea of who's interested in running it and get some input on a few different aspects of it up front, then write the game based on that input.

I'm planning for this game to be something you can take at your own pace. If you wanna just play for a couple hours, then go to the boss fight, cool, if you wanna spend a week exploring every nook and cranny of the palace, that's great too. I'm planning to make this thing pretty robust and I'm planning to continue to tag it for a pretty long time, but I'm also gonna include a "okay I'm done, go to the boss fight now" button of some kind. I'll probably also set it up so characters can re-visit Nessa's palace and keep exploring (gotta get that 100% run to see the True Ending) after the boss fight is done. You can have it your way. Like at Burger King.

Where:
In Reverie. Then, also in Nessa's Palace.

Why:
So it's been just a shade under 6 months since Nessa took a nap (read: deadsies) during one of the tasks and was replaced by a teenaged version of herself. I initially intended this to be a short-term plot then she'd go back to being normal. I always planned to culminate that with a palace game, but uh, then things kinda got away from me. But by the end of this game, we're gonna be tying a little bow on this and whichever version of Nessa comes out of it will be Nessa forevermore. I sorta have a vague idea of what I might do, but the main determining factor deciding which one I play going forward is gonna be which version Nessa's CR would prefer to play with.

So even failing everything else, if you have no opinion on how you want this palace game to be designed, if you don't even have any interest in playing in it but you have an opinion on which version of Nessa you want to play with, you should convey it to me somehow. I highly encourage you to play favorites here. Don't say you like both, 'cause I can't play both. Actually I have no idea if that's true. Al might let me play both. And I dunno why I said you can't say you like both, I like it when people tell me they like my characters. Tell me if you like both. But also tell me which one you like more, 'cause I'm not gonna ask Al if I can play both. Al, if you're reading this, don't tell me whether or not I can play both.

How:
With the MetaNav app, I guess? This style of dispensing info kinda got away from me at the end here, huh. Anyway, with all of that out of the way, here's a form!

This wound up being a lot more info than I thought it would be at this point, so, thanks for reading all of it!

Name: Jay
Character(s): Sprezzatura, natch!

Do you have a preference between Teen Nessa and Adult Nessa: I didn't have any Nessa CR before she was de-aged so I have to say I like Teen Nessa just because she's what I know! She's what Sprezzatura knows! But I know that ICly, Sprezzatura would want whatever version of Nessa there is, be it adult or teenager. She just wants Nessa. I also did like Adult Nessa from what I saw of her before she de-aged! But my preference is Teen just because that's literally my only exposure.

Schedule: I am PST and I work full-time, so I am generally unavailable for anything besides a sparse few tags throughout the work day until after 5pm PST when I get home. My weekends are usually free, barring social stuff! I don't do anything big at Christmas, so I'm also pretty free around then.

Do you have a preference for a format besides Exploradora: I love exploradoras.

Do you have a preference between running solo or in a group for the exploration portion: I can do either! I am more accustomed to running solo, but you know I've done exploradora-style games before in groups. Pour one out for Tama and Wolfwood.

Do you have a preference between running solo or in a group for the boss fight: Group boss fight! Sprezzatura will get creamed in a solo fight because she's more of a utility caster than DPS, and she can't wear armour and is overall just super easy to hit and hurt. And she has, like, less than 30hp.

Do you have a preference between something with mechanics and NUMBERS or something free-form and prose-y in the boss fight: I am literally playing a D&D character. Numbers and mechanics are actually preferable because I have actual rolls I have to do to determine what Sprezzatura can do—but I can then work those rolls into prose.

Anything Else: I'M EXCITE
