[ENTER THE PALACE]
[You find yourself with a sensation like floating in water.]
[Above, the sky is dark. You can occasionally see things shifting, like gusts of wind, or perhaps waves of water. Is it…even a sky above you? Or is it some kind of giant ocean? Whatever it is, you can’t make it out very well. All around you, you appear to be floating in what appears to be water. It looks like a great, wide ocean of…space in every direction around you, with stars and lights twinkling in the distance. It looks like water and feels like water, but it doesn’t make you wet. You can reach your hand into it and pull some out, the purple and violet water and the tiny points of light inside it will even rest in your hands if you cup them to carry it, but once you’re not trying to hold it anymore, it’ll flow off of you, not a single drop remaining behind. You feel something similar if you go underneath the surface. The “water” doesn’t touch your eyes, mouth or nose when give the chance, it merely drifts around you, allowing you to breathe and see unabated. And you can see for a great distance, the twinkling stars illuminating the ocean of space all around you. Though perhaps less dark and empty, it feels every bit as vast as the sky above. You feel like you could swim forever and never reach the edge.]
[It’s quiet, here, with little noise around you but the starry ocean’s waves crashing back into its surface. It’s peaceful. In another situation, it might even be comfortable.]

[ he's quiet for a long moment, thinking, and then he focuses on... a memory!
It is completely silly, but there is a lot of fondness there for it as well. ]

[Welcome to the Palace: Step 4 Completed!]
[The Cousin: Step 1 Completed!]
[You are so powerful.]
[Step 5: Use the NessaShare app.
Open the NessaShare app and share your thoughts on the memory you acquired to earn NessaPoints.
Shadow Nessa: You don’t have to talk specifically about the memory. It can be anything, honestly. Just make sure it’s pithy and clever. But also, detailed and eloquent. Don’t suck up, I find it very annoying when people are cloying with me. But I’m extremely susceptible to being buttered up, so throw in some compliments. Look, I’m rambling, just share something honest and poignant about how fascinating my life is and you’ll be well compensated for it.]
[Step 2 is still processing....please stand by momentarily....]
[...the other quest seems to need a minute to catch up.]
no subject
Oh...oh! That looked like a nasty drop! Was everybody okay?!
[She doesn't seem to find the girl pressed against the window with bolts in her neck particularly out of the ordinary....]
no subject
He blinks. ]
Oh--yes, thank you for your concern. But we ended up falling into the hot springs, which were deep enough to break our fall without anyone getting hurt. We were all safe.
[ he fiddles with his phone. Share his thoughts, huh...? ]
no subject
I suppose if there were hot springs, that must have been a vacation! That sounds like... ...fun!
[That little bit of hesitation because, for real she would just be terrified of falling of balcony like that.]
[Also, pretend this link was included in the quest step.]
no subject
Mm, it was for a school trip. Honestly... it really was a lot of fun. I'm glad I was able to go with my friends, even if it meant things were a little chaotic sometimes.
You know how it is, right? Sometimes you need people to push you outside of your comfort zone.

[Step 6: Use the NessaWallet and NessaShop.
Check your inventory with the NessaWallet + NessaBook app, then open the NessaShop app and spend your points on a service or spell.
Shadow Nessa: So I know you’re probably scrambling to re-purchase all of your techniques, but here’s a thought. Your techniques all stink. That’s why when I was scrambling to get your heart started again, they were the first thing I tossed off - by the way, if this didn't come up in our conversation? I had to get rid of all of your techniques to get your heart started again and they're for sale in the shop now. But you should buy some magic instead. It’s much better and more interesting than your old techniques. Don’t you want to be a cool witch like me? And Sprezzatura, I know you’re thinking something along the lines of ‘I was already a witch, this unhinged rant clearly doesn’t apply to me’, it applies twice as much to you. Your magic stinks even worse than everybody else’s techniques. What the hell is a Thunderstep? That sounds like something you use to treat athlete’s foot. Use my magic instead. It’s better.

[Nell rubs the back of her head a little sheepishly.]
W-well, I've never exactly...been on a school trip before...but. I think I know what you mean anyway! Ever since I moved in, Nessa is always trying to get me do stuff outside my comfort zone...she says that's the only way you can learn what the stuff you really like is!
I'm glad you and your friends had fu-- oh!
[The crystal suddenly shines brightly and turns.....GOLD! The crystal then shatters and something pops out of it and lands in Minato's hand. It's a gold coin! With...someone's...face on it....? Your phone beeps and notifies you that you've earned 1 GOLDEN NESSAPOINT!]
Oh! Oh, it worked! This is great, it really worked!
[She claps her hands together.]
Now we just need to take one of your techniques and one of Nessa's spells and...!
[She blinks and looks Minato up and down as if realizing something]
Oh, I guess you don't have one of those yet...that's fine! We can fix that!
[Nell takes out her own phone and what looks like...a credit card with Nessa's face on it? Whatever it is, is says "Diamond" so it must be pretty exclusive. She types the number in and Minato's phone beeps again. You were transferred 100 NessaPoints!]
[Step 1B: Unlock one of your techniques.
Use NessaPoints to unlock one of your technique in the NessaShop.
Shadow Nessa: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I wonder if this step appears if you already have enough techniques unlocked to move on to step 2….well, if it doesn’t, make sure to take some pity on the shmucks who didn’t think to take this quest first.]
no subject
Wow, that's a lot. Minato squints at his phone for a long moment, cautiously going to look at the various pages.
Oh... oh!! His Personas.
... ]
So should I buy one of each...? One of Nessa-san's spells, and one of my, um, "techniques"?
no subject
no subject
[ he makes his purchases, trying not to deliberate for too long, and then nods. ]
All right, so with that done... what did you want to show me?

Step 7: Return to Shadow Nessa.
Return to the Courtyard and speak to Shadow Nessa.
Shadow Nessa: Honestly, I’m a little proud of you. I placed the lowest hurdles I could think of in front of you and you managed to clear them. My expectations for you were low, and you passed them. Come back and we’ll go over a final few things.
no subject
Step 2: Create a Resonance
Open the NessaWallet and use the Golden NessaPoint to create a Resonance between your technique and Nessa’s.
Shadow Nessa: She is trying to create a Resonance! Where did she even think of that?! Nell doesn’t know anything about… …I guess she does!
Okay! Now....focus on those two spells and hold that golden coin in your hand! If it works, you should feel something soon!
[As you focus on your spell and Nessa's spell, the coin starts to grow warm in your hand....and you feel the two spells in your Voidheart syncing with one another....
You feel the potential for a stronger connection between your two spells. Choose One:
1. Speed Bonus (Dark): Evoker can be cast to summon Beelzebub sooner after casting Spark Bolt
2. Damage Bonus (Slice): Casting Evoker to summon Orpheus inflicts more damage after casting Spark Bolt.
3. Efficiency Bonus (Heal): Casting Evoker to summon Attis is more efficient (less self-damage, more healing) after casting Spark Bolt.]
no subject
Now he has to think tactically, huh? He needs to be able to fight, to be able to help Nessa properly.
So...
He chooses 1. Speed Bonus. ]
... Huh. It really did work. That was pretty amazing, Nell-san.
no subject
[Spark Bolt + Evoker Speed Bonus (Dark): Every other time you cast Spark Bolt, roll 1d20. If you roll 14 or higher, Evoker: Beelzebub becomes fully charged.]
[The Cousin: Step 2 completed!]
[Nell is clapping her hands excitedly.]
Ah, you're the one that's amazing, Minato! You did it!
You see - a Resonance is when two witches make their spells stronger by bonding them together. The thing is, both witches have to agree to link their spells for it to work, which means that coin was Nessa's way of saying she's agreeing to do a Resonance link with you! That must mean she really trusts you!
[It's hard to say what she's happier about, that her plan is working, or that her cousin has a friend she trusts this much.]
The token appeared when we shared the memory...if we can go share your memory in other parts of the palace, we can improve the strength of the Resonance! It'll make your spells stronger, and maybe if we make the Resonance strong enough, we can get it to show us where the Voidheart is!
[It sounds like the Resonance can be made stronger.....which is probably a good thing because as is, that effect seems kind of. Situational, at best.]
no subject
[ he's quiet for a long moment, before he smiles a little, dipping his head. ]
I'm really glad to hear that. I'm glad that I can share this with her too--because I trust Nessa-san an awful lot too.
So I've gotta get more memories and share more memories... that makes sense.
no subject
[Quest: The Cousin paused.]
[The quest will resume and move to the next step when Nell finds the location of the next crystal. Maybe it's for pacing reasons, who knows.]
[In the meantime, you can:
- Explore the Living Room
- Rest on the couch
- Move to the Hallway or Kitchen
- Return to the Courtyard]
no subject
That sounds great, thank you so much for your help.
... Do you mind if I take a look around?
no subject
[As mentioned before, there's the big TV on the wall, the easy chair and the couch, the latter of which Nessa's cat Puck has gone back to lounging on. Up against one wall is a large fully stocked bookshelf that appears to have books on most of the shelves, but DVDs on the bottom. There's a wireless phone sitting in its dock on the coffee table....Nessa apparently still has a landline? There's also a drawer under the coffee table that appears to be for board games.]
no subject
[ ...... he's gonna go snoop at the DVDs first because Minato loves movies. ]
no subject
- The Wizard of Oz: The first movie I ever saw and one of my favorites, for all time. I thinks I'm among maybe seven people on the planet who read the book first and got really annoyed at some of the changes. Still love it, though.
- Wicked: When the bloody hell is it coming out?! 2024?! UGGGGHHHH. [There's no actual movie here, just a tangible annoyed, impatient feeling]
- The Hobbit (animated): I'll always have you. No amount of big budget morass can take you away from me. Don't ever leave me.
- The Lord of the Rings: The greatest movies of all time.
- Harry Potter: Every day I think about binning these the way I did the books five years ago. Damn you Alfonso Cuaron for being so good at directing.
- Star Trek Into Darkness: Never watched an episode of the show. Don't care to now. Story's kind of pants. Don't care. Swoon. 💖
- Doctor Strange: SWOON. 💖
- Avengers Infinity War: Needed more Doctor Strange. Still, swoon. 💖
- Sherlock: The Complete Series: Swwooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon 💖💖💖💖💖
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: That...that was fine...that wasn't too bad, right? Ahahahah, oh, I have a very bad feeling about the rest of this.
- The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug: ohhhhh, my stomach hurts....oh I don't even feel like swooning, oh lord, there's still one left....
- The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies: AAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHGGGG UUUUUGGGHHH OOOOOHHHH UUGGGHHHHHHH]
[Your.....your stomach starts to hurt if you hold that last Hobbit DVD for too long.....]
[You can take 1 DVD with you, if you wish.]
no subject
He deliberates for a long moment, and finally.... grabs Sherlock: The Complete Series. In honor of Sholmes and because he feels like more hearts in her feelings is probably a good thing...?? ]

[There's also a number of books, manuals, textbooks etc. on the subject of education. Books on learning, teaching, how to connect with students at various ages.]
[And then, there's the magic stuff. Spellbooks, books on the occult, potions, etc. etc. It seems to vary between stuff written by actual witches and non-witches. There's also a few history books, particularly about the history of witches.]
