[ENTER THE PALACE]
[You find yourself with a sensation like floating in water.]
[Above, the sky is dark. You can occasionally see things shifting, like gusts of wind, or perhaps waves of water. Is it…even a sky above you? Or is it some kind of giant ocean? Whatever it is, you can’t make it out very well. All around you, you appear to be floating in what appears to be water. It looks like a great, wide ocean of…space in every direction around you, with stars and lights twinkling in the distance. It looks like water and feels like water, but it doesn’t make you wet. You can reach your hand into it and pull some out, the purple and violet water and the tiny points of light inside it will even rest in your hands if you cup them to carry it, but once you’re not trying to hold it anymore, it’ll flow off of you, not a single drop remaining behind. You feel something similar if you go underneath the surface. The “water” doesn’t touch your eyes, mouth or nose when give the chance, it merely drifts around you, allowing you to breathe and see unabated. And you can see for a great distance, the twinkling stars illuminating the ocean of space all around you. Though perhaps less dark and empty, it feels every bit as vast as the sky above. You feel like you could swim forever and never reach the edge.]
[It’s quiet, here, with little noise around you but the starry ocean’s waves crashing back into its surface. It’s peaceful. In another situation, it might even be comfortable.]

That's right. Nice to meet you too. I'm Minato, and this is Akira. We're... trying to do what we can to help her.

I think I know how we can find the Voidheart, but I'm gonna need your help.
[It's starting to feel like Lyra and Lilith aren't in this forest. But, either way. Your phones beep.
You're being offered a quest. Accept?
> Yes
> No]

. . .
You know, I’m starting to feel bad for picking up all these quests without finishing any of them, but I guess that's life.
What do you have?
[sure, he will say yes!!]

anyway he is also hitting y, of course. ]

[Just gonna go ahead and slander RPGs to the two RPG protags....]
[Quest: The Brother
The story of a brother, a teacher, a mistake and a promise.]
Alright. Finding the Voidheart is obviously the most pressing thing, but it's also true that at some point, we're gonna need to fight Esmau and as you guys are right now, obviously, you wouldn't even be able to touch her. I'm betting she's already smacked you both around a couple times by now. We're going to needs as much power as we can get, so we're going to build a spell from scratch.
Some of Nessa's memories have Spark Fragments within them. I believe if we collect all the Spark Fragments, we'll have a spell that will reveal the location of the Voidheart AND be able to fight back against Esmau. I already found the first memory and was using it as bait for Esmau, but that was probably never gonna work anyway. I dunno why I thought a net would stop her when she's got that giant fucking spear thing of hers, but to be honest, I'm getting kinda desperate here.
So anyway, go ahead and touch the memo -- oh. Wait.
[He walks over to the table and taps his foot on something. A net falls from the ceiling and drops on the table. He picks it up and throws it off of the table.]
Okay. Go ahead and pick it up.
[Step 1: Collect Memory
Collect the memory and the Spark Fragment inside it.
Shadow Nessa: Ohhhhh….using Spark Fragments to try and gravitate yourself to the Voidheart….clever, clever, Caesar….hurry up and do what he says. I want to see how this goes. ]

Even the best RPGs have motorcycle levels.
[giving Caesar a slightly amused look as the second net drops before he goes and touches the memory fragment!]

Anyway.
He reaches out to touch the memory fragment at the same time as Akira! ]

[Nessa is pre-teen/young teenaged, sitting at the top of a hill, knees pulled up to her chest. She just had an argument with her older sister, Agnis. The subject was Nessa practicing magic and becoming a witch, something Nessa really wants and Agnis strictly forbids. The argument got pretty heated. Agnis wouldn't explain why she wouldn't let Nessa practice magic, she just stonewalled her, something extremely uncommon for how Agnis has raised her. Nessa is near the point of tears, but not quite there yet.
Her older brother Caesar approaches. He heard them arguing. Rather than comfort her, he simply tells her Agnis won't give in, no matter how much Nessa begs her. Nessa says she's not giving up either. It's clear this is very important to her. Caesar asks her if she'll keep at it, no matter how angry it makes Agnis. Nessa hesitates, but nods resolutely. Caesar tells her to follow him.
The two go down the hill and into the forest just outside their village. They find a creek and a small waterfall covering a cave. There's a large rock blocking off the entrance to the cave. Caesar asks her one more time if she's sure. She says she is. He focuses and moves the rock out of the way - using magic. Nessa is stunned. Caesar takes her inside. Caesar has already set up some stuff inside the cave. He shows Nessa notes he wrote himself about how he experimented with the spell he just did. He says Agnis won't let them learn magic and there's nobody else in or anywhere near their village that'll teach them, so they'll have to learn on their own. Which means they'll just have to keep trying stuff until they figure out what works.
Nessa promises not to tell Agnis and promises to try her hardest. Caesar grins and pokes her in the forehead. He calls her a "witch-in-training". Nessa's face lights up and she gives Caesar a big hug. It takes him a few seconds of standing there awkwardly with his hands in the air, but he eventually returns it.]

[Caesar shrugs.]
Nessa's memory of this place is more impressive than the real thing.
Alright. Now that you've got the memory, now hurry and extract the Spark Fragment before it fades away.
[Extracting Spark Fragments:
Focus on the memory you just viewed and extract the latent fragment of Magical Spark from it by rolling 1d20.
Under 9: Failure, try again.
9-15: Success
16+: Critical Success!
If you fail three times in a row, you will extract an Unstable Spark. You have less control over how an Unstable Spark will affect the spell you're creating.
If you succeed, you will extract a Stable Spark. You will have control how to use the spark in the crafting of the spell.
If you critically succeed, you will extract a Shining Spark. You will gain an additional small bonus to the aspect of the spell you're currently crafting.]

I thought the secret cave workshop was pretty impressive too, personally speaking.
[ANYWAY!! with his hand still resting on the memory, Akira's eyes slip shut again as he focuses on what he just saw]
[he rolls a 17, btw!]

Also that's adorable, Minato is looking around the place with newfound enjoyment. Cute... ]
I think... we did it...?
