[Endgame: rise or DROWN]

[How long have you been exploring Nessa's palace now? You've met her family, viewed her memories, learned how to fight as a witch and tried to find the source of her power and the Treasure of her palace: the Voidheart. And along the way, you've tired your best, with mixed success, to avoid the incarnation of her eldest cousin and the representation of her trauma and fear, the Nightmare of Esmau.]

[Wherever you are in the Palace right now, you feel the ground briefly shake under your feet. Little shakes here and there haven't been out of the ordinary - Esmau is trying to blow the place down to the studs, after all. But that felt different. That felt....worse.]

SPREZZATURA'S SPELLBOOK

[personal profile] voidhearts 2023-02-11 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
HP: 100/100
Invoke: Void Fissure
Description: “It’s just a big tear. A rip between dimensions. Anybody else would probably break half the bones in their body if they reached into something like that, but, Lilith taught me how to take the energy without being torn by it. Probably the only thing she ever taught me, honestly. Hopefully you can find some better uses for it than I did.” - Dimitri
Tier: Invoke
Spark: Void
Range: Melee
Effect:
Inflict or receive 200 combined damage to charge. Damage requirement reduced by 10 each round.
On cast, Gain 20 HP Barrier and one Volatile Spark
Gain 20 HP Barrier and one Volatile Spark as a free action once each round.
While this spell is active, your Void spells can hold multiple Volatile Sparks.
Lasts three rounds.

Spark: Harmony

Spells:

1. Shield
Description: An invisible barrier of magical force appears and protects you or an ally. Due to its simplicity, can be summoned quickly as a reaction to an attack.
Tier: Basic
Spark: Vulcan
Range: Ranged
Effect:
Grant 1 Ironheart to yourself or an ally.
Defense Bonus: Can be cast in response to an attack if stored in Wizardly Quill or a slot granted by Manifest Mind.

2. Bestow Curse
Description: Touch a creature currently affected by an unstable Void spark and imbue it with cursed magical essence. The power of the Void is malleable and unstable energy in particular takes extremely well to anything that makes it more deadly.
Tier: Basic
Spark: Void
Range: Melee
Effect:
Target one Volatile opponent.
For one round, when a Volatile opponent is attacked, Volatile doesn’t detonate, but instead deals additional damage.
Cannot be used on a target already affected by Bestow Curse.
Lasts one additional round if this spell is in a Manifest Mind slot.

3. Phantasmal Killer
Description: Tap into the nightmares of one creature and create an illusory manifestation of its deepest fears, visible only to that creature. Strike at your target’s most vulnerable weakpoint - their own mind - with psychic damage so severe, it incapacitates them physically. Recreated surprisingly easily with Harmony Spark - for as much as the psychic school of magic is lent to healing, it lends itself equally well to harm where the mind is concerned.
Tier: Powerful
Spark: Harmony
Range: Ranged
Effect:
Cast three basic spells to charge
Inflict high damage to one target.
Psyshock: If the opponent is Psyshocked, roll 1d20 and inflict critical damage on a roll of 15 or higher. Reduce threshold by 1 for each additional stack of Psyshock on the opponent. If this spell is cast from a slot granted by Manifest Mind, reduce threshold by 3.

4. Thunderstep
Description: Teleport yourself and an ally a short distance away and leave behind a thunderous boom that strikes anybody left in your wake. Recreated with Harmony Spark by opening two nodes within the Harmony Network, teleporting someone between the nodes and immediately burning off the Spark of several nodes at the origin point.
Tier: Powerful
Spark: Harmony
Range: Ranged
Effect:
Cast three basic spells to charge.
Inflict medium damage to one target.
Psyshock: If the opponent is Psyshocked, roll 1d20 and inflict critical damage on a roll of 16 or higher. Reduce threshold by 1 for each 2 additional stacks of Psyshock on the opponent.
Defense Bonus: Can be cast in response to an attack on your opponent’s turn, increase the dodge bonus of yourself and/or up to one ally by +5 for that attack.

MANIFEST MIND SLOTS
5. Void Bolt
Description: A generic Spark Bolt, tweaked and customized over the years by Nessa Houghton. This specific bolt’s configuration allows a higher portion of the Spark used to create it to be recaptured for future spells. She claims she got the idea when returning soda bottles for 10 pence each so she could buy Pokemon FireRed.
Tier: Basic
Spark: Void
Range: Ranged
Effect:
Inflict low damage on 1 target.
Charges an ally’s powerful spell once.

6. Magic Missile
Description: A wizard’s spell that generates three darts of magical force. Reasonably replicated to be crafted from Spark instead, one may wonder what the difference is between a Magic Missile and a Spark Bolt at that point. The answer is, this one costs more.
Tier: Basic
Spark: Neutral
Range: Ranged
Effect:
Inflict low damage to an opponent 3 times.
Inflict damage one additional time if this spell is in a Manifest Mind slot.

Shards:

Name: Manifest Mind
Description: A simple wizard’s spellbook, imbued with sentience and transformed into a focus for spellcasting. The purest representation of a scribe’s dedication to see all magical knowledge recorded and preserved. Expand the limits of your arcane arsenal and turn that dedication upon your opponents.
Spark: Harmony
Facet Slots: 2
Effect:
Gain two additional spell slots.
Once per round, you can select a spells in one of Manifest Mind’s slots. Change that spell’s Spark to that of another spell you have equipped for one round.

Facets:

Node of Repurposing
Spark: Harmony
Effect: When you cast two consecutive damaging Harmony spells, release a burst of 1d5+1 healing on yourself or one ally.

Node of Balance
Spark: Harmony
Effect: When you heal an ally, add 1d2 Psyshock to an opponent.
